Batik of Indonesia: a site to discover Batik, art of textile of Central Java and other places in Indonesia










 		  

The batik  of Pekanlongan is the most richly colored of the coastal area batik and its motifs are naturalistic.

Click on the picture to enlarge		  Most of these batiks were sarongs, perhaps because Dutch settlers found them easier to to wear. In this group of batiks we find the buketan motifs, depicting flowers and fruits thet grew in Holland, like chrysanthemums and grapes, and flowers arrangements in European style.
